Goddess Varahi is the consort of Lord Varaha, the third incarnation of Lord Vishnu, and she emerged from his divine form. Goddess Varahi Devi represents the manifestation of Goddess Shakti and is one of the eight Matrikas, or Mother Goddesses. She is often depicted with the face of a boar and possesses eight arms, carrying Sangu, Chakram, Gadhai, Kadgam, Mushalam, Devaragam, Abayavaradam, and Ulakkai. Varahi Devi is revered as the supreme protector of her devotees and symbolizes profound knowledge. Performing Varahi Devi Puja and Homa bestows spiritual elevation, wisdom, and protection from negative influences, the evil eye, ailments, accidents, and the consequences of bad karma.  According to an episode from the Devi Mahatmya, which recounts the slaying of the Demon Raktabija, the Matrikas were created by the warrior Goddess Durga herself to aid in the battle against the Demon Army.  When the Demon Shumbha challenged Goddess Durga to a one-on-one combat, she absorbed the Matrikas back into herself.

Similarly, in the Devi Bhagwat Puran, it is mentioned that the Matrikas, including Varahi, were created by the supreme mother with a pledge to the Gods that these divine beings would come to fight the demons whenever required. In the episode narrating the annihilation of Demon Raktabija, Varahi is portrayed in the form of a boar engaged in combat with the Demons, wielding a tusk while seated upon a corpse.

Goddess Varahi is often depicted as a boar holding a sword and a discus, ready to dispel evil forces whenever the need arises. She is revered as a formidable warrior capable of paralyzing enemies, thwarting wicked forces, and combating evil energies. Her devotees are blessed with name, fame, and elevated social status. Varahi is regarded as a symbol of the profound powers of Sri Vidya, which encompasses knowledge of yogas, rituals, and devotional practices, ultimately leading her devotees towards the path of Sri Vidya. Furthermore, Goddess Varahi represents the New Moon and the radiant aspect of the Mother Goddess.
