This puja is highly important for newly married women. On the Tuesday of Shravan month when the puja is done, the women wake up early in the morning, take a holy bath and prepare for the puja.A red cloth is spread on a small wooden platform and the image or picture of Maa Mangala Gauri is kept on it. In few customs, a banana leaf is placed on the wooden platform and a Kalash (holy pot with water and coconut with a facial image of the goddess) is kept on it which is believed to represent Magala Gauri.
