Somvar Vrat Katha
Somvar Vrat Katha is done for blessings of Lord Shiva and Maa Parvati. The Katha describes the story of a rich moneylender. He had riches and material solaces. Yet, just a single torment pained his heart that he was without the kids. The rich moneylender was a devotee of Lord Shiva and used to visit the Shiva temple every Monday. One day Goddess Parvati asked for Lord Shiva why doesn’t He bless the moneylender with a child. Lord Shiva blesses the moneylender with a child and tells him that the kid will only survive till the age of 12. Following 11 years, the moneylender thought to send his kid to the home of a maternal uncle in Kashi for the culmination of training. Moneylender knew about the demise of his kid. However but he never broke his dedication towards Lord Shiva. The kid went to Kashi with his maternal uncle and indulged in Shiv Puja, Yagna and more. Later in the story although the child loses his life but Lord Mahadev returns the same.
